Advanced Ground Remediation
At TDSE Services Ltd, we understand that what lies beneath the surface is just as important as what is built above it. Before any construction project can begin, the ground must be stable, safe, and suitable for development.
We specialise in ground remediation—the process of treating and restoring soil that has been contaminated, disturbed, or is simply of poor quality. We take “brownfield” or difficult sites and turn them into clean, level, and build-ready platforms for your future construction.
Our Remediation Services
We utilise heavy plant machinery and geological expertise to tackle ground issues head-on, ensuring your project meets all environmental and structural standards.
1. Site Strip & Muck Away
The first step is often removing the “burden” of the site. We handle the rapid excavation and removal of:
Made Ground: Removing layers of old rubble, ash, or weak soil from previous developments.
Vegetation & Topsoil: Stripping back organic matter to reveal the subsoil, stockpiling quality topsoil for later landscaping use.
Inert Waste Removal: We are fully licensed waste carriers, transporting thousands of tonnes of spoil (soil and stones) to authorised recycling or restoration facilities.
2. Contamination & Hotspot Removal
If your site has a history of industrial use or fly-tipping, it may contain “hotspots” of contamination. We work safely to:
Identify & Segregate: Visually identifying areas of concern (e.g., oil spills, buried asbestos cement, or ash).
Targeted Excavation: Surgically removing contaminated soils without spreading the issue to clean areas of the site.
Safe Disposal: Transporting hazardous soils to specialist treatment centres with full consignment notes and audit trails.
3. Cut & Fill and Levelling
Rarely is a site perfectly flat. We engineer the ground to your required levels using Cut and Fill techniques:
The “Cut”: Excavating high areas of the site.
The “Fill”: Using suitable excavated material to raise lower areas, compacting it in layers to ensure stability.
Laser Grading: Using laser-guided machinery to create perfectly level platforms for piling mats, floor slabs, or car parks.
4. Soil Stabilisation & Capping
Where ground is soft or unstable, we improve its load-bearing capacity:
Capping Layers: Importing and compacting layers of crushed concrete (6F2) or Type 1 MOT to “cap” weak ground and provide a firm working surface for heavy piling rigs or cranes.
Geotextiles: Installing membrane layers (Terram) to separate clean stone from weak subsoils, preventing sinking and contamination.
Why Is Remediation Necessary?
Risk Reduction: Dealing with poor ground before you build prevents costly subsidence issues or environmental fines later.
Cost Efficiency: By remediating site-won materials (e.g., crushing old concrete for re-use), we reduce the volume of material you need to import, saving thousands on haulage.
Regulatory Compliance: Local authorities strictly enforce planning conditions regarding land quality. We ensure your site meets these criteria for sign-off.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are you fully insured?
Absolutely. We hold comprehensive Public Liability and Employers’ Liability Insurance. We operate under strict UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines, ensuring our team and your property are fully protected.
Do you offer free quotations?
Yes. We are happy to visit your site to assess the work required and provide a free, no-obligation written quotation. We believe in transparent pricing with no hidden costs.
Do I need planning permission to demolish a building?
Not always. Demolition of many small residential outbuildings (like garages or sheds) falls under Permitted Development rights.
Do I need to disconnect utilities before demolition?
Yes. Gas, electricity, and water supplies must be safely disconnected and capped off by the relevant utility providers before we begin structural demolition.
What happens to the rubble and waste?
We operate a "recycle first" policy. Brick and concrete are often crushed on-site or taken to a facility to be turned into hardcore/aggregate.
What is "Ground Remediation"?
Put simply, it is fixing "bad ground." If your plot has poor soil, contamination, or old rubble buried underneath, we remove the problem material and replace or cap it with certified crushed concrete or stone. This ensures your new build doesn't sink or suffer from subsidence.
